A 64-year-old St. Louis Park man died early this morning after he was hit by a Metro Transit bus Friday evening in downtown Minneapolis.

Mark Gregory Best died from "multiple blunt force injuries" after being hit by a bus at 6:37 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Marquette Avenue and Second Street, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

The death has been ruled an accident but remains under investigation by the medical examiner and Metro Transit Police.

Best was in the crosswalk when he was hit, according to the Pioneer Press. The driver of the bus, a 16-year-veteran with an "exemplary work history," has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

Metro Transit told the paper that it was the tenth fatal incident involving a bus and a pedestrian in the past 23 years.
