A Spanish-speaking officer was called and the woman said that Diaz-Sanchez had assaulted her.

She told police she had left work early that day to avoid Diaz-Sanchez but he followed her and confronted her on the street.

She said he punched her in the face and yanked her by the hair, pulling her into his car.

Diaz-Sanchez locked her in the car, she said, but she escaped.

She said he took her phone and made a series of threats.

He said he’d get his “revenge,” he’d “make her suffer,” he’d kill her and he’d harm her children, the woman told police.

She said Diaz-Sanchez had assaulted her in the past but she didn’t report the incident to police because she wa afraid of retaliation.

St. Louis Park police saw redness on the woman’s left cheek and older bruises on her arm.

Diaz-Sanchez is in Hennepin County Jail and faces up to five years behind bars.
