Costco Loses $100K in Fresh Goods During Power Outage

Dry ice, generators and refrigerator and freezer trucks weren't able to save everything.

St. Louis Park Costco employees stood on street corners Saturday letting people know that the power outage had forced the store to temporarily close. But it wasn’t just forgone sales that cost the store. Costco lost about $100,000 in fresh goods, the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal reported.

The store was without power from 8 p.m. Friday until 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Dry ice, a generator truck and refrigerator and freezer trucks were able to save most of the store’s perishables, but it still lost some items, mostly in the deli section.
