Jablonski Has a Scare

His blood pressure spiked during a recent therapy session.

"Sometimes we forget how vulnerable we can be," wrote Jack Jablonski's mom, Leslie, on her son's CaringBridge page Thursday. This was in response to a recent scare Jack had. While doing a therapy session at the Courage Center, his blood pressure spiked and he said his stomach felt "cold." Leslie Jablonski said she doesn't know what caused the incident, and Jack has gotten better. Here is her full CaringBridge post: Sometimes we forget how vulnerable we can be.  Despite Jack's strength and determination to defeat all odds, incidents occur that remind us of how fragile he really is. We experienced one of those situations today.  Think of it as a reality check.  Jack's blood pressure spiked during his stepping workout in the ABLE program. He …

Jablonski Stands With Assistance

The Benilde-St. Margaret's junior continues to rehab at the Courage Center.

Jack Jablonski continues to show signs of improvement with help from Courage Center staffers. Jablonski, the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior who sustained a serious spinal cord injury during a hockey game last December, was able to stand for 22 minutes recently with assistance, his mother reports via CaringBridge. He has also been playing beach volleyball with his trainers, using his arms to hit the ball back and forth. Meanwhile, the Jablonski family is getting close to moving back into their home, which has been renovated to better accommodate Jack. You can read Leslie Jablonski's latest full CaringBridge post below: My Dad always said, "Tempus fugit," or, time flies.  Sums up the last few weeks. Apologies for our absence on CaringBridge…

(VIDEO) In a Sign of Progress, Jablonski Rolls Over

He was also able to hold himself up for nine minutes while on his hands and knees—showing that his core is getting stronger.

Jack Jablonski is continuing to make progress in his rehab at the Courage Center. Most recently, the Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey player, who sustained a serious spinal cord injury in a game last year, was able to roll over (see video above), and also hold himself up for nine minutes while on his hands and knees. Jack's mom, Leslie Jablonski, talked about the accomplishments on CaringBridge: What a week it's been. Lots of good things going on.  Let's start with more mini miracles...Jack rolled over last week. And over and over and over. At least 10 times on each side. His physical therapist positioned him on a mat and with the use of his hip flexors and core muscles, he rolled over by himself. It was an incredible sight to see! I also saw…

The "You Betcha! Minnesota Made Festival" will be held Saturday at the Shops at West End.

Minnesota Made Festival" is scheduled for Saturday from noon to midnight at the Shops at West End. Admission is free, but food and drinks will be on sale, and donations will also be accepted. (VIDEO) With Help, Jack Jablonski Crawls

He moved back and forth three times with assistance from Courage Center therapists.

The remarkable progress continues for Jack Jablonski. Jablonski, a Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey player who sustained a severe spinal cord injury in a game last December, crawled last week with assistance from Courage Center therapists (see video above). The soon-to-be-junior has been in Courage Center's ABLE Program for the last two months. The program is an innovative option for people living with paralysis or neurological conditions that stimulates muscles and nerves to promote a greater degree of neuro recovery. "It's crucial to his rehab and his recovery," his mother, Leslie Jablonski, said during a July 26 press conference. "He's so much stronger and healthier. He's had movement in his legs and felt his toes tingle ... This stuff is …

$18,000. That's the reported cost of three months of therapy in Courage Center's ABLE Program, which is an innovative option for people living with paralysis or neurological conditions that stimulates muscles and nerves to promote a greater degree of neuro recovery. Jack Jablonski, the Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey player who sustained a severe spinal cord injury in a game last December, has been in the program the last two months—and with great results. "It's crucial to his rehab and his recovery," his mother, Leslie Jablonski, said Thursday during a press conference before a star-studded gala in Jabs' honor. "He's so much stronger and healthier. He's had movement in his legs and felt his toes tingle ... This stuff is unheard of. He wasn'…
