Today, we look at story No. 2—two October shootings. Look for story No. 1 tomorrow. October was a scary month in St. Louis Park, as one person was shot and killed and another shot during an attempted burglary. The alleged suspect in the shooting death of a 51-year-old woman in St. Louis Park earlier this month reportedly called police afterward, then shot himself. The man, who has been identified as the estranged husband of victim Stephanie Maxam, of St. Paul, was found by police around 10 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the intersection of East 37th Street and Hiawatha Avenue, dead of what they believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. About two hours earlier, the man allegedly shot Maxam in the Parkdale Plaza parking lot in St. Louis Park, which is in the 1600 block of Highway 100. The county medical examiner has identified the woman killed in an apparent murder-suicide Monday night in St. Louis Park. Stephanie Maxam, 51, of St. Paul, was shot multiple times in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Highway 100 at around 8 p.m. by her estranged husband, according to authorities. The man, whose name has not been released, fled to Minneapolis. Police found him at the intersection of East 37th Street and Hiawatha Avenue, dead of what they believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other suspects are being sought at this time. Police say the man then shot and killed himself in Minneapolis.
A man shot and killed his estranged wife Monday night outside a St. Louis Park office building, then later shot and killed himself, according to police. Neither person has been publicly identified, pending release by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office. The first shooting happened around 8 p.m. in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Highway 100, across the street from Podany's Office Furniture.
