SLP Music Studio Aims to 'Enrich Your Music Experience'

Maestoso Music Studio, which opened this past February, features former employees of both Trestman Music Center and Eckroth Music.

One St. Louis Park business is working hard to educate local musicians, after years of working in the Twin Cities music scene under a variety of names. Maestoso Music Studio opened at 5816 W. 36th Street this past February, featuring former employees of both Trestman Music Center and Eckroth Music. When Eckroth moved to a larger facility in Roseville earlier this year, several educators interested in still serving St. Louis Park musicians banded together to form Maestoso Music Studio. Owner Lara Dietrich said she sees the Park as a tremendous community for music education, considering its central location and the strong music programs in SLP schools. St. Louis Park Business Owner in Running for 'Entrepreneur of the Year' Award

Award winners will be announced on June 13, at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center.

A St. Louis Park business owner is among 29 finalists in the running for Ernst & Young's 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year award. John Barrow, the founder and president of Coolibar, a sun protective clothing company, has been selected as a finalist for this year's award. The annual program recognizes high-growth entrepreneurs who demonstrate success in areas like innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. The 29 finalists have been selected from 61 nominations in the Upper Midwest, with winners set to be announced at a special gala event on June 13 at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center. Office Depot Announces Deal to Buy OfficeMax

The merger is expected to close by the end of the calendar year 2013, OfficeMax CEO and President Ravi Saligram wrote in an email to MaxPerks members. Until then, OfficeMax and Office Depot will remain separate companies.

Office Depot will buy OfficeMax in a deal announced Wednesday. The two office supply giants announced the signing of a “definitive merger” today intended to “create a stronger, more efficient global provider better able to compete in the rapidly changing office solutions industry.” OfficeMax has a store in St. Louis Park, located at 5600 Cedar Lake Road South. There is currently no Office Depot in St. Louis Park, but there are stores nearby in Minnetonka, Minneapolis and Eden Prairie. According to a news release posted on the OfficeMax website: "OfficeMax Incorporated (NYSE:OMX) and Office Depot, Inc. Here are some of the top business stories in St. Louis Park: Steel Toe Taproom Steel Toe Brewing's taproom is now open. Since August when Steel Toe received the St. Louis Park City Council's blessing, owner Jason Schoneman has been working on the perfect taproom to compliment the brewery located at 4848 West 35th Street. Last weekend was opening weekend for the taproom. From Steel Toe's Facebook page: "We had a great time pouring pints for everyone! Thank you for such a great STB Tap room opening weekend. Wells Fargo Plans Closure of St. Louis Park Mortgage Center

More than 200 people will lose their jobs when Edward Jones Mortgage closes on March 7.

A St. Louis Park mortgage subsidiary of Wells Fargo announced plans to close on March. 7. Edward Jones Mortgage notified the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development that 210 Minnesota workers could lose their jobs, according to Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal. Edward Jones stopped offering mortgages on Jan. 11, and they said in a statement that "mortgage applications currently being processed will be completed as normal." Will this closure affect you? St. Paul Magazine’s Restaurant Week this year. The Saint Louis Park Woodfire Grill will be among those serving two-course lunches for $10 to $20 and three-course dinners for $15 to $30.
