For Abigail Jacobson, a senior at St. Louis Park High School, the best part of being a St. Louis Park Parktacular Ambassador has been the relationship she's made with 8-year-old Alissa, a junior ambassador in the program. Jacobson's taken the Aquila Elementary student to movies, stayed up late into the night for sleepovers, and introduced her to her friends. "I've really become like her big sister," Jacobson said. On Saturday afternoon the duo, joined by other members of the Parktacular ambassador program, rode a big, blue, tractor-towed float through the heart of the Minnesota State Fair. The St. Louis Park ambassadors had won a raffle for the opportunity to participate in the parade. For Jacobson, the parade fit right in with what she …

From a petting zoo to a skate park, St. Louis Park's summer bash had something for everyone.
Sure, Parktacular is most well known for the Grand Day Parade. But there were plenty of other fun events going on this year. Patch user Frank Landis caught the excitement on film, from a petting zoo to a skate park. Check out his great work above.
Rubber Soul performed to cap off Saturday's Parktacular festivities in St. Louis Park.
To celebrate a hard day's night, Beatles tribute band Rubber Soul rocked St. Louis Park's Veterans Amphitheater on Saturday as part of Parktacular. A special thanks to Patch user Frank Landis for uploading all the great photos above. Did you go to the concert? What did you think of Rubber Soul? Be sure to tell us in the comments below.

Beloved St. Louis Park resident Elliott Royce was a kid again at Parktacular on Saturday.
If you've spent some time in St. Louis Park, you've probably seen Elliott Royce. You may not know him by name, but you likely know his costume—a tribute to Dr. Seuss and "The Cat in the Hat." Biking around St. Louis Park, Royce brings the joy of Dr. Seuss wherever he goes. On Saturday, he biked to Parktacular, and seeing kids having so much fun with the various inflatables and games, the 93-year-old decided to give it a try. As you can see in the video above, Royce kept his trademark hat on the whole time and had a blast, though he acknowledged that all the bouncing "took a lot of wind." For more on Royce, check out this article on him from 2010.

Despite questionable weather, residents turn out in large numbers once again for the 2012 Parktacular Grand Day Parade on Satuday afternoon.
With the threat of rain lingering over Parktacular yet again this year, the annual Grand Day Parade got underway at noon on Saturday. The parade started at 40th Street and Joppa Avenue, and ended at the St. Louis Park Rec Center. From marching bands and ladies flipping in the air, to Jack Sparrow and Pizza Luce' tossing out cloves of garlic, we've got photos of it in the parade gallery above. Also, don't miss the photos of St. Louis Park Patch staff working hard in the parade and passing out that candy! Were you there? We'd love to hear from you in the comments!

The annual Rock the Block event was held Friday night.
Parktacular got funky on Friday night, as Boogie Wonderland played the annual Rock the Block event. For the first time, the block party was held at the Shops at West End, and guests enjoyed food, drinks and some great live music. Thanks to Patch user Frank Landis for submitting a bunch of photos. Check them out above. On Saturday, be sure to head over the Grand Day Parade, which is the staple of Parktacular weekend. For more on Parktacular, check out our event guide.

The Parktacular scavenger hunt is over, and just in time for the big event.
Congratulations to Bella Smith, who emailed us last night to report that she had found the hidden Parktacular button. Where was it? At the Rec Center, in the West Arena, underneath a bleacher seat in the top row. We'd love to see Bella snap a photo with her prize, and if she does, we'll post it here. Thanks to everyone who participated in the hunt! For more on Parktacular, see our interview with the Parktacular president, as well as our look at what's new at this year's event. Parktacular, St. Louis Park's annual city celebration, is June 14-17. Click here for a full schedule of events.

From a revamped block party to new rides and attractions, there are plenty of great things to check out at the city's summer celebration.
Editor's Note: With Parktacular fast approaching (it starts on Thursday, with most of the main events coming on Saturday), St. Louis Park Patch wants to help you get ready. Today, we have a look at what's new. Yesterday, we got the lowdown from the Parktacular president. And tomorrow, we'll have your last-minute guide to all things Parktacular. Also, check out our Parktacular button scavenger hunt. Some festivals do the same-old things every year, and people come back simply because there isn't anything better to do. Parktacular isn't that way. The annual summer celebration in St. Louis Park has its mainstays (hello, parade), but also will offer plenty of new things this year. A sampling: In years past, the Rock the Block Block Party had …
We've hidden a Parktacular button somewhere in St. Louis Park. Finder keeps it!
Yes, it's pretty clear where in St. Louis Park the above photo was snapped, and yes, the button is here. But opening the arena door won't be enough to find the prize. You'll have to look a little harder than that... If no one finds it in the next few hours, we'll post another clue later in the day. And we might post additional updates on Twitter using the hashtag #ButtonHunt, so stay tuned... If you find the button, please let us know! You can email michael.rose@patch.com, or tweet/Facebook us. And of course, the finder gets to keep it, so enjoy using it at Parktacular. Parktacular, St. Louis Park's annual city celebration, is June 14-17. Click here for a full schedule of events.
