SLP Parking Ban in Effect, Benilde is Closed Today

Residents must keep their vehicles off the road until streets are plowed curb to curb.

The heavy snowfall overnight prompted St. Louis Park to declare a parking ban in effect just before 1 a.m. The city declares a parking ban as soon as snow accumulation reaches three inches—whatever time of day that happens to be. On-street parking is prohibited any time during a parking ban until streets have been plowed curb to curb. Parking Ban Notice: Move Vehicles Off Streets Tonight

The City of St. Louis Park sent out a notice telling residents to park off local roads Saturday night.

A city of St. Louis Park alert went out at 3:44 p.m. Saturday. The alert said: Snow is forecast. Reminder: St. Louis Park bans parking as soon as snowfall reaches 3" or more. Please park your vehicles off street tonight. The city is under a winter storm warning through midnight Sunday. If you park on the street once a ban is in place you could pay a parking ticket that is a minimum of $30, and you could pay for towing and storage.

Snow Forecast Means Winter Parking Bans Are On The Way

Street parking in St. Louis Park is banned automatically if there are 3 inches or more of snow on the ground.

The National Weather Services has forecast snow for Friday through Sunday in St. Louis Park. About 1 to 3 inches are expected Friday and 3 to as many as 7 inches could fall Saturday night through Sunday. Unlike some municipalities, St. Louis Park automatically bans street parking as soon as 3 inches of snow accumulates. Some other cities declare snow emergencies after large snowfalls, which restrict parking to one side of the street or the other as plows come through.
