New yarn shop Linden Yarn & Textiles is moving to St. Louis Park to gain more store space and a parking lot. The store plans to be settled in its new location at 5814 Excelsior Blvd. by the end of February. In addition to more space, there will be comfortable seating, a classroom area and new yarn. Honeyshine, a home furninshings and gifts boutique currently based in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood, will replace Linden Yarn in its current Minneapolis location near the corner of 43rd Street and Upton Ave South. GiGi's Playhouse, Down Syndrome Awareness Center, Opens Saturday in St. Louis Park

The playhouse will feature a door prize raffle, food and entertainment for its grand opening Saturday morning.

GiGi's Playhouse, the Chicago-based Down Syndrome Awareness Center, is opening a Playhouse in St. Louis Park. The Playhouse celebrates its grand opening Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and will feature food, a entertainment and a door prize raffle for all who bring items for the center. The center's mission is to help serve the Twin Cities community of children with Down Syndrome by promoting awareness as well as serving as a resource for parents and families of children with Down Syndrome. The opening is scheduled two weeks before the organization's annual fundraising gala "I Have a Voice" in downtown Minneapolis to raise money for the nonprofit group. The organization is also seeking volunteers.

An estimated 400 people turned out Tuesday night at Edina's Pinstripes for the second annual fundraiser for GiGi's Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Awareness Center slated to open in St. Louis Park in 2013. More than 30 local vendors offered everything from food samples to fashion consults during the three-hour event designed to raise awareness of the children with Down Syndrome. The above photos are from those who attended Tuesday night. And though the fundraiser may be over, the organization is still accepting donations for the center. Holiday Sip & Shop: Putting the 'Fun' in Fundraiser

More than 30 vendors will be at Pinstripes in Edina Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. to host an open house and raise awareness and money for GiGi's Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Awareness Center slated to open in 2013.

It's a party, yes—but for a good cause. More than 30 vendors will be at Pinstripes in Edina Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 5-8 p.m. as a fundraiser and to raise awareness for GiGi's Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Awareness Center slated to open in St. Louis Park in 2013. It's the second year for the event, which will feature gifts, wine, coffee, hot chocolate, as well as hors d'ouvres for guests. A donation of $10 is asked for those who attend. Edina Patch, which is a partner for the event, will also be on hand giving away canvas shopping totes to those who attend.
