Editor’s note: The following announcement comes from Adult Options in Education. Adult Options In Education is taking appointments for registration at Eisenhower Community Center. To schedule a registration appointment for adult English language or GED preparation classes, call 952-988-5343. Appointments begin mid-August; classes will start Monday, September 10, 2012 at sites in Minnetonka, Hopkins and St. Louis Park. Adult Options In Education offers classes for adults who need English-language skills (ESL/ELL classes); a refresher in math, reading, or writing; or GED preparation. (The following announcement comes from Adult Options in Education) An enthusiastic, and proud, crowd gathered at Hopkins Center for the Arts Tuesday, June 5 for Adult Options In Education’s GED graduation ceremony. More than 50 graduates participated in the ceremony recognizing their accomplishments of passing the five GED exams. Hennepin County Commissioner Jan Callison delivered the keynote speech. Monica Hernandez, who studied in Minnetonka and Lokundo Lohese, a student from St. Louis Park, delivered the student speeches. Amanda Stadther, a Hopkins student originally from New Zealand, was awarded the Bernice Brooks Memorial Scholarship. Adult Options in Education has scheduled GED orientation sessions for this month.
It’s never too late to complete your degree. Adult Options in Education has scheduled GED orientation sessions for 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at Eisenhower Community Center in Hopkins and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at St. Louis Park High School. Adult Options In Education—an adult basic education program serving Hopkins, Minnetonka and St. Louis Park school districts, along with the Hennepin County Corrections—also offers free classroom preparation for the GED exams and online GED preparation. GED classes are offered morning, afternoon and evening at sites in Hopkins, Minnetonka and St. Louis Park. The classes are self-paced, and students may opt for individual instruction.
