The Dumbest Decision You Could Ever Make

Another senseless tragedy leads me to believe that there are few things dumber than getting drunk and deciding to drive.

The law is a statewide expansion of a successful pilot program, which is already in place in Hennepin County.  An ignition interlock device is a breathalyzer, installed in a motor vehicle's dashboard, that tests a driver's blood-alcohol concentration before the vehicle can be started. If a driver’s breath exceeds a preset alcohol content limit—which will be 0.02 under the new law—the car won’t start. Also, once the engine has started, the…

Some people might complain that this is the gov't stepping too far in to our lives, but as a victim of a hit and run 4th time drunk driver when I was in high school (fortunately not hurt), I feel this law is long overdue. We tolerate drunk driving beyond imagination in this country and this could be a very helpful step in reducing the heartache caused by tragic accidents.   more ›
