Prosecutor: SLP Man Tried to Strangle Ex-Girlfriend While Reciting Prayers

A St. Louis Park man sits behind bars today, facing charges he tried to murder his live-in ex-girlfriend last week. In the early morning hours of Feb. 28, according to prosecutors, David Vassily Robakevich, 25m crept up to his former girlfriend's bed as she lay there, and began whispering into her ear. He was going to kill her, he allegedly said. According to the criminal complaint, Robakevich then seized the woman's neck and began to strangle her while reciting prayers in Russian. Robakevich allegedly continued to throttle the woman until she passed out. She came to, feeling a warm trickle of her own urine flow down her leg. Burnsville Man Charged With Strangling SLP Girlfriend

Roy Depaul Crawford, Jr. accused of strangling girlfriend.

Friday afternoon, Hennepin County attorneys filed domestic assault charges against a Burnsville man for allegedly trying to strangle his girlfriend, a St. Louis Park resident. According to the criminal complaint, Roy Depaul Crawford, Jr.'s girlfriend called police to her apartment on the 8300 block of West 30th 1/2 Street on Feb. 14. The woman was "distraught and missing a chunk of her own hair," the criminal complaint says. She told officers her boyfriend had been trying to leave the apartment with her car keys following an argument between the two. The argument quickly resumed and became physical. Man Charged with Strangling St. Louis Park Woman Over Text Message

Police say Karl Alexander Coombs became upset over a text message and choked the woman twice in front of her 4-year-old son.

A Minneapolis man has been charged with strangling a St. Louis Park woman after he became enraged over a text message. Karl Alexander Coombs, 25, is charged with domestic assault by strangulation, a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. St. Louis Park police were called to a home on Pennsylvania Avenue South on Dec. 23 to investigate a disturbance, according to the criminal complaint, signed by St. Louis Park Police Lt. Michael Harcey. Officers found the victim visibly upset and in tears. She said she and Coombs, whom she described as her boyfriend, had argued over a text message, and Coombs pushed her down, causing her to fall backward onto a table in her 4-year-old son’s bedroom. Police say Kenneth Elzie Nelson choked a woman and threatened to kill her when she refused to have sex with him.

A St. Louis Park man has been charged with strangling a woman after she refused to have sex with him. Kenneth Elzie Nelson, 45, is charged with domestic assault by strangulation, a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. St. Louis Park police were called to a home in the 2700 block of Louisiana Court just before 4 a.m. Jan. 1 in response to a 911 hang-up call on which a woman was heard screaming in the background, according to the complaint, signed by St. Louis Park Police Officer Dennis Hagen. Police say Amber Marie Harris was extremely intoxicated when she assaulted the St. Louis Park woman with a pair of scissors.

A St. Paul woman has been charged with stabbing her mother, a St. Louis Park resident with a pair of scissors. Amber Marie Harris, 24, is charged with felony domestic assault, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. St. Louis Park police were called to a home on Louisiana Court on Jan. 1 to investigate a domestic disturbance, according to the complaint, signed by St. Louis Park Police Officer Dennis Hagen. When they arrived, officers met with the victim, who said her daughter, Harris, had assaulted her with a pair of scissors. James Anker Andersen of St. Louis Park used his elbows to repeatedly hit a 19-year-old in the face and body, according to charges.

A St. Louis Park man with five previous assault convictions has been charged with striking a man repeatedly in the face with his elbows, leaving Ping-Pong ball-sized lumps. James Anker Andersen, 45, is charged with two felony counts of domestic assault, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. St. Louis Park police were called to an apartment in the 6200 block of Hamilton Street on Nov. 23 and found a 19-year-old man with “numerous visible injuries” on his face, hands and arms, according to the criminal complaint, signed by St. Louis Park Police Officer Aaron Balvin. Man Charged with Kidnapping St. Louis Park Baby

George Jermaine Rutledge has been charged with kidnapping a 1-year-old baby in connection with a Nov. 8 incident that prompted authorities to issue an Amber Alert.

A Ramsey, MN, man accused of abducting a 1-year-old girl last week in St. Louis Park, which prompted authorities to issue an Amber Alert, has been charged with kidnapping and domestic assault.   George Jermaine Rutledge, 31, is charged with felony kidnapping of a minor, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine. He is also charged with domestic assault by strangulation, a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
