SLP Schools Superintendent Finalists Narrowed to Three

The three remaining candidates will take part in all-day interviews in St. Louis Park next week.

St. Louis Park Public Schools has revealed the names of the three finalists being considered to be the school district's next superintendent.  The three final candidates emerged after the School Board interviewed seven semi-finalists this week. They include: All three will be taking part in all-day interviews in St. Louis Park next week, Tuesday through Thursday, May 7-9. Metz will be up first on May 7, followed by Agbamu on May 8 and Rajanen on May 9. Community members interested in meeting the prospective superintendents can attend special interviews with each of them, from 5-6 p.m. each day in the gymnasium of St. Louis Park Middle School. 7 SLP Superintendent Semi-Finalists Announced

The semi-finalists will be interviewed Wednesday and Thursday, May 1-2, in the school district offices at St. Louis Park High School.

The St. Louis Park School Board has announced the names of the seven candidates still in the running to be the school district's next superintendent.  Interviews with all seven candidates will be conducted by the School Board Wednesday and Thursday, May 1-2, in the school district offices at St. Louis Park High School. The candidates are as follows: The seven semi-finalists will be narrowed down to either two or three finalists at the conclusion of Thursday's interviews, according to district officials. SLP Schools Advertising for Superintendent Candidates Through April 22

The district expects to select its new superintendent in May and to have the new hire on the job July 1.

The St. Louis Park school district has begun its search for its next superintendent. The district has hired Highland Park, IL-based School Exec Connect to help in the search, the district announced on its website. The position will be advertised and School Exec Connect will recruit candidates nationally April 22, according to a school district timeline. The board will meet April 29 to select five or six candidates to be interviewed May 1 and 2. After those interviews, School Board directors will narrow the field to two or three finalists, whom they’ll interview May 7 through 9 before choosing a final candidate. St. Louis Park Superintendent Bowers Announces Resignation

Debra Bowers has been with St. Louis Park Schools as superintendent since 2004.

St. Louis Park Public Schools Superintendent Debra Bowers announced her resignation today, Jan. 8, ending a nine-year tenure with the district. Bowers' current contract expires on June 30, 2013, but she has opted to not seek an additional contract. The district reports she is currently considering her options to transition to another line of work within the education field. "I am so proud of the work we’ve done together," she said. "St. Louis Park is an amazing community and I am fortunate to have worked closely with parents, staff and community members to ‘achieve success, one student at a time.'"
