Jabs Is 2012 Courage In Sports America's Choice Honoree

Jack Jablonski was named the winner Sunday in a special on CBS.

Jack Jablonski is the 2012 America's Choice Honoree. The award was announced during the Courage in Sports broadcast Sunday afternoon on WCCO (CBS). Jack is a Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey player who sustained a serious spinal cord injury in a game 10 months ago. He has made steady progress on his journey to walk again. His mom, Leslie, even recently posted on his CaringBridge page that he blew out the candles on his 17th birthday cake. The Star Tribune reported that after he won Jack said, "It drives me to do the best that I can, knowing people are out there to support me." (UPDATED) Last Day to Vote Jabs for 'Courage in Sports' Award

Jablosnki, a Benilde-St. Margaret's junior who sustained a serious spinal cord injury during a hockey game last December, is up against rugby player Ben Cohen. Cohen founded the StandUpFoundation in an effort to end bullying, particularly against LGBT individuals. You can vote via the Courage in Sports Facebook page. The winner will be announced on Nov. 11 on CBS Sports.

Jablosnki, a Benilde-St. Margaret's junior who sustained a serious spinal cord injury during a hockey game last December, is up against rugby player Ben Cohen. Jack Jablonski's story still seems to be resonating with people across the country more than eight months after he sustained a serious spinal cord injury in a hockey game. Jablonski, who is a Benilde-St. Margaret's junior, is the runaway leader right now in the voting for the "Courage in Sports" award, with 65 percent. Jablonski a Finalist for 'Courage in Sports' Award

Voting is done via Facebook, with a winner to be announced in November on CBS.

Jack Jablonski, the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior who sustained a serious spinal cord injury during a hockey game last December, is one of eight finalists for the national "Courage in Sports" award. Voting is open on the Courage in Sports Facebook page. People can vote once per day. Jablonski currently leads with 38 percent of the vote. The winner will be announced during a Nov. 11 special on CBS. The Courage in Sports award has been presented for the last 22 years. Last year's winner was Chris Norton, a Luther College football player who broke his neck in a game but was later able to stand on his own.
