Top Stories Of The Year: #10

We're counting down the most inspiring, popular, interesting and tragic stories of the year.

On April 25, St. Louis Park High School Senior Andrew Dudley was hit by a car on Shady Oak Road and died. A day after Andrew died, his fellow students painted the "Senior Wall" in honor of him.  A former classmate, Justin Brown, wrote a blog post about Andrew. In it he said: Andrew Dudley had a kind, funny, caring and unselfish character all the time. As a former classmate of his, I know there was never a dull moment—he truly lived his life on the edge. Next time you see your family or friends, don't be afraid to give them a hug. Life is precious, and you only get one chance, so here is my advice to you: Appreciate the ones around you, because they are there for a reason. Students Paint 'Senior Wall' in Honor of Dudley

Senior Andrew Dudley died Wednesday night in a bike accident.

A day after the death of one of their classmates, seniors at St. Louis Park High School honored their peer and friend the best way they knew how—with paint. Students painted the message "We Love Andrew Dudley — R.I.P." on the famous "Senior Wall" Thursday. Dudley, an 18-year-old senior, died on Wednesday night after he was struck by a car while biking out of a church parking lot in Minnetonka. “Mellow was the word his counselors and teachers and friends are describing him as," principal Rob Metz said of Dudley. "Mellow, easy-going, cheerful, happy-go-lucky.” The "Senior Wall," which is on the backside of the track and field equipment shed, has long been a place for Park seniors to mark their final year at the school. The crash took place Wednesday night near the intersection of Shady Oak Road and Excelsior Boulevard.

An 18-year-old boy on a bicycle died after a car hit him Wednesday night on Shady Oak Road, Minnetonka Police said. The victim has been identified as Andrew Dudley, a senior at St. Louis Park High School. The crash happened at about 8:45 p.m. on the 4600 block of Shady Oak Road in Minnetonka, near the intersection with Excelsior Boulevard, as Dudley exited a parking lot into the southbound lanes of traffic.
