St. Louis Park Seeking Human Rights Award Nominations

St. Louis Park is seeking nominations for the 2013 Human Rights Award.

The award "recognizes individuals, groups, organizations or businesses that have made an outstanding contribution toward increasing understanding and cooperation between people of different backgrounds in St. Louis Park," according to the city.

Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 15. The award will be presented at a city council meeting early this year.

Nominees must meet four eligibility requirements:

1. The nominee’s activities have helped to improve understanding and cooperation in the areas of race, religion, gender, national origin, marital status, disability, age, sexual orientation or family status.

2. The nominee’s services may be either voluntary or part of an employee’s job.

3. Members of the St. Louis Park Human Rights Commission are not eligible for the award while serving on the Commission.

4. The nominee need not live in St. Louis Park as long as the nominee’s activities were a benefit to the St. Louis Park community or undertaken in the City of St. Louis Park. Businesses or organizations must conduct business or provide service in St. Louis Park.
