State Fair Beer Exhibit Has SLP Flavor

The Four Firkins and Steel Toe Brewing will both be represented this year at the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild.

St. Louis Park's burgeoning craft beer scene will be making its mark on the Minnesota State Fair this year.

Both the and Steel Toe Brewing will be represented at the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild exhibit, which is a new addition to the Agriculture-Horticulture Building.

Jason Alvey, owner of the Four Firkins craft beer store in St. Louis Park, will be giving a presentation to fair-goers on Wednesday at 3 p.m. And Steel Toe founder Jason Schoneman said his brews will be available to sample at the exhibit throughout the fair.

A Star Tribune article describes the new exhibit as a "360-degree look inside Minnesota's craft brewing industry." Brewer talks and hands-on displays of ingredients like hops and barley will be featured all 12 days of the fair. The history of Minnesota beer culture is also on display, including old Schell's artifacts and an unbelievable can collection, the Star Tribune notes.

And, of course, there are plenty of samples, with beer flights from more than 15 Minnesota craft breweries on sale.

"It's set up to be a learn-while-you-drink environment," Clint Roberts, the guild's marketing head and the exhibit's executive producer, told the Star Tribune.

The Ag-Hort Building that houses the exhibit is located at the corner of Underwood Street and Judson Avenue.
