SLP Nabs Hopkins Assistant as New Girls Basketball Coach

has a new girls basketball coach—and he won't have to travel far for the job.

Tim Sension, who spent the last seven years as the associate head girls basketball coach at , will be taking over the Orioles this year. He will replace Ha-Keem Abdel-Khaliq, who took the head boys basketball job at Mound-Westonka. Abdel-Khaliq led Park to a 5-21 record last season. 

Hopkins went 30-1 and won a second-straight 4A state title in 2011-12.

Sension also has head coaching experience at Bethany Academy and Breck. He works at St. Louis Park High School as a grade level coordinator.

Sension will be formally introduced as a Oriole at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the St. Louis Park High School gym.
