St. Louis Park Grad Drafted in National Lacrosse League

Nick Jonas became the first ever University of Minnesota player to be selected in the draft.

Nicholas Jonas, a 2009 graduate of St. Louis Park High School, became the first ever University of Minnesota player to be drafted in the National Lacrosse League's entry draft.

The Minnesota Swarm picked Jonas in the sixth round as the 52nd overall selection.

Jonas's high school coach, Kevin Reed, wrote in a blog post that he "couldn't be more proud" of his accomplishment.

"I still remember the first time I saw him in 2007 at practice in the Hopkins Pavilion," Reed wrote. "He was a big human even back then and I gave him the nickname of Freight, it was only fitting.  Nick was dedicated and displayed a work ethic that made him a valuable asset to St. Louis Park."
