SLP Boys Lacrosse Loses in Title Game

The Orioles fell to Delano on Saturday.

St. Louis Park fell short of its third boys lacrosse state title on Saturday night, losing to Delano, 11-4.

The Orioles only trailed 5-3 after two quarters, but Delano put the game away with a 6-1 surge in the second half.

Will Harkema had 15 saves on 26 shots for Park, and Matt Harkema scored twice. Max Arko and Sean Berens also tallied goals.

St. Louis Park plays in the Minnesota Boys Scholastic Lacrosse Association, which consists of club teams from around the state. The SLP boys program was established in 2007, and while the Orioles may want to move to the varsity ranks in coming years, they have had plenty of success in the MBSLA—Park claimed state titles in 2008 and 2010, and were runners-up in 2009 and 2011, and now 2012.

“The last five years haven’t been that bad,” coach and St. Louis Park Lacrosse Association founder Kevin Reed said in an with St. Louis Park Patch.
