St. Louis Park Boys Hoops Team Looks to Continue Solid Conference Start

The team — one of many local squads in action Tuesday — is 3-1 in the North Suburban.

The St. Louis Park boys basketball team had a tough non-conference schedule, with games against and among others, but perhaps it got them ready for North Suburban Conference season. The Orioles are 3-1 in the conference following a Friday night victory over Robbinsdale Cooper, and they’ll look to continue that good start tonight as they play Totino-Grace on the road. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

It hasn’t been as good of a start for the girls basketball team. The Orioles are 4-9 overall, 1-5 in conference and coming off of a 67-33 loss to Cooper on Friday. The team will be looking to get back on the right track with a home game against Totino-Grace. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Also in action from St. Louis Park is the boys hockey team, which got its first win of the season Saturday after a rough 0-11 start to the season. With that hurdle cleared, the boys will be looking to start their first winning streak of the season. They take on Spring Lake Park at the at 7 p.m.

For Benilde’s boys hockey team, it’s been a different story this season. The Red Knights are 11-2 overall, 4-0 in conference and ranked sixth in the state by “Let’s Play Hockey.” They take on Irondale at 7:30 p.m. at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine.

Both Benilde basketball teams will also be playing Tuesday night, as the boys take on St. Francis on the road and the girls get St. Francis at home. Both games are scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The two teams enter their respective match-ups with some momentum — the boys have won two straight games, while the girls have tallied three in a row.

Rounding out the Benilde schedule is the boys swimming team, which has a 6 p.m. meet against Irondale at the pool, the alpine skiing team (4:30 p.m. meet at Hyland Hills) and the Nordic skiing team. The Nordic team meet, which is scheduled for 3:45 at Baker Park Reserve, also includes St. Louis Park.
