SLP Girls Hockey Falls by One

The Orioles couldn't notch their second win of the season on Saturday, instead losing for the seventh straight time, 4-3 to Spring Lake Park.

Park (1-7) is lucky to have stayed close, thanks to junior goalie Hannah Brodersen, who stopped a whopping 50 of 54 shots on net. By contrast, the Orioles only fired 16 shots as a team. Goals were notched by Leah Schrank, Lauren Greenbush and Anna Basill.

Up next for the Orioles is a Tuesday road game against Minnehaha Academy.

BSM Girls Hockey Blanks Minnetonka

The Red Knights recorded a shutout on Saturday, 2-0 over visiting Minnetonka.

BSM (6-2) got a stellar game from sophomore goalie Abbey Miller, who stopped all 26 shots she faced. Scoring for BSM were Anne Arnason and Caitlin Reilly, with assists coming from Ali Praus, Kelly Pannek and Brittany Wheeler.

Up next for the Red Knights is a Thursday home game versus Chisago Lakes.

BSM Boys Hockey Bounces Back

The Red Knights rebounded from a tough loss to Burnsville last week to beat Duluth Marshall on Saturday, 5-2.

BSM (No. 2, Class 2A) trailed Marshall (No. 6, Class 1A) 1-0 after one period. But the host Red Knights responded with two goals in the second and three more in the third to put the game away. Junior T.J. Moore led the way for BSM with a hat trick, while Christian Horn and Seth Chumley added a goal apiece. Junior Grant Besse added three assists.

Up next for the Red Knights is a Tuesday home game against Holy Angels.

BSM Dance Takes Second

The Red Knights girls dance team came in second in the AA Jazz category at the Eastview Invitational Saturday.

There were nine schools in the event. Overall, more than 55 teams from 30 schools competed in the invitational.

Up next for the team is a Thursday conference meet at Robbinsdale Cooper High School.

BSM Wrestling Goes 4-1

The Red Knights had a good weekend road trip, taking four out of five match-ups in the Dells Duels, held in Wisconsin Dells.

BSM beat Wisconsin high schools River Falls, Wisconsin Dells, Plymouth and Brookfield Central. The only weekend blemish was a three-point loss to Cumberland (WI).

Up next for the Red Knights is a home meet against Spring Lake Park and Mille Lacs on Thursday.
