Sports Roundup: Red Knights, Orioles Share North Suburban Boys Soccer Title

Spring Lake Park joins Benilde-St. Margaret's and St. Louis Park atop final conference standings; Red Knights girls claim circuit championship by one-half game over Orioles.

The North Suburban Conference boys soccer title will be split three ways between , and Spring Lake Park after all three teams won their final circuit matchups on Wednesday and Thursday evenings; the BSM girls soccer team took the NSC crown by one-half game over Park.

Orioles Boys Soccer Wins Finale

A 3-1 over the NSC's No. 4 team, Totino-Grace, on Wednesday ensured the Park boys soccer squad at least a share of the conference championship with a 9-1 record in the North Suburban.

The Orioles capped the regular season with a 12-3 overall record as Artis Curiskis, Gideon Moranga and Jeremy Davis scored one goal apiece to go with six saves from goalkeeper Nick Gaitan-Gaitan.

Up next for Park is the Section 6AA Tournament, with post-season play slated to start on Oct. 13. Seedings have yet to be announced.

Red Knights Boys Soccer Gets Back on Track

Dropping into a tie atop the conference standings after a 1-0 loss at Spring Lake Park on Tuesday, the BSM boys soccer team clinched its share of the North Suburban championship with a 1-0 victory at Chisago Lakes on Thursday.

Individual statistics from the game were not available. John Mulvahill finished the regular season as the Red Knights' leading scorer.

BSM, ranked second in Class A, finished the regular season with a 13-2-1 overall record and a 9-1 conference tally.

The Red Knights are likely to garner the No. 1 seed for the Section 6A Tournament that is set to begin on Oct. 10. Seedings and matchups have yet to be announced.

Red Knights Girls Soccer Stays Undefeated

A 3-1 victory at Chisago Lakes on Thursday claimed the North Suburban championship for the BSM girls soccer team as the Red Knights, ranked No. 1 in Class A, improved to 13-0-2 overall and 9-0-1 in the conference.

Kelly Pannek scored twice, with Haley Jerabek adding another goal. Goalie Mikayla Coulombe made 10 saves to earn the circuit-clinching victory.

Defending Section 6A champion BSM is a virtual lock to earn this year's top sectional seed for the bracket that begins on Oct. 10. Seedings and matchups have yet to be announced.

Before the playoffs, however, the Red Knights play one final regular-season game versus the Mississippi 8 Conference's Rogers at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Orioles Girls Soccer Finishes Strong

The Park girls soccer team did what they had to do to keep the heat on BSM by defeating Class A's No. 4-ranked Totino-Grace by a 2-1 score at home on Wednesday to take a temporary conference lead.

Lauren Miller scored her team-best 17th and 18th goals of the season for the triumph that forced the Red Knights to win on Thursday to claim the North Suburban. Goalkeeper Riley Riordan snared the win in net for the Orioles.

Park held the conference lead for approximately 20 hours before BSM's Thursday night win left the Orioles as a narrow No. 2 with an 8-0-2 North Suburban record to go with a 9-2-3 overall mark.

Pairings and seedings for the Section 6AA Tournament have yet to be announced, but Park is almost certain to host an opening-round game on Oct. 13.

Orioles Girls Tennis Advances in Section Playoffs

The eighth-seeded Park girls tennis team advanced to a Section 6AA quarterfinal matchup at No. 1 seed Edina next week by means of a 5-2 defeat of No. 9 St. Anthony Village at home on Thursday.

Individual statistics were not made available. The Orioles are scheduled to play the Hornets at 3:45 p.m. Monday.

Red Knights Girls Tennis Opes Playoffs Monday

After receiving byes for the first two rounds of Section 6AA play, the fourth-seeded BSM girls tennis team begins its post-season at 3:45 p.m. Monday versus No. 5 Minneapolis South at Aquila Park.

Orioles Girls Swimming and Diving Wins

The Park girls swimming and diving team defeated Chisago Lakes by a 96-82 score on Thursday. Individual statistics were not made available.

Red Knights Girls Swimming and Diving Tops Cooper

The BSM girls swimming and diving team topped Robbinsdale Cooper, 90-72, on Thursday. Individual statistics were not made available.

Red Knights Volleyball Wins Close One

A 3-2 win at Chisago Lakes on Thursday improved the BSM volleyball team to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in the North Suburban.
