Sports Roundup: Orioles, Red Knights Soccer Squads Start Week In Winning Form

St. Louis Park and Benilde-St. Margaret's rolled through opponents on Monday and Tuesday.

It was a great start to the week for and soccer, as the four squads went unbeaten on Monday and Tuesday.

Orioles Boys Soccer Posts Two Shutouts

The Park boys soccer team improved to 5-2 on the year with back-to-back shutouts on Monday and Tuesday.

After the Orioles blanked Hopkins by a 3-0 score, they returned to North Suburban Conference play with a 4-0 win over North Branch to give the squad four clean sheets on the season.

Heading into Tuesday's game, goalkeeper Nick Gaitan-Gaitan had made 34 saves on 42 shots faced, with Luke VonEschen, Aaron Stern, Samuel Brimacomb and Gmoh Kanneh tied for the team scoring lead with two goals each.

Orioles Girls Soccer Lights up the Net

After tying Hopkins 1-1 to start the week, the Park girls soccer team bested North Branch by an 8-0 score to improve to 4-2-1.

Lauren Miller scored three times against the Vikings and leads the Orioles with eight goals on the season, with Hannah Geressu and Chloe Chong following up with four goals apiece.

Red Knights Boys Soccer Still Undefeated

A 6-1 defeat of St. Francis in its lone game of the early portion of the week upped the top-ranked BSM boys soccer team to 6-0-1 on the season.

Luke McCormick leads the Red Knights with five goals, while Brendan Schember's eight points on six goals and two assists also paces the squad.

Red Knights Girls Soccer Stays on Top

With a 3-0 win over fourth-ranked Orono to kick off the week, the No. 1 BSM girls soccer team improved to 6-0-1 with a 5-1 win at St. Francis Tuesday.

Peggy Renier leads the Red Knights with six goals, and Kelly Pannek and Dana Buckhorn have scored five goals apiece thus far.

Orioles and Red Knights Square Off in Volleyball

BSM defeated visiting Park in four games (25-19, 25-17, 25-21, 25-11) in a North Suburban volleyball duel on Tuesday night. Individual statistics were not made available. 

The Red Knights improved to 3-7 with the win, while the Orioles fell to 0-6 in the loss.

Red Knights Girls Swimming And Diving Falls

Visitation defeated the BSM girls swimming and diving team, 111-74, on Tuesday at St. Louis Park Junior High School. Individual statistics were not made available.
