Sports Roundup: Orioles, Red Knights Boys Soccer Claim Weekend Wins

St. Louis Park topped Park Center, while Benilde-St. Margaret's beat Minnetonka.

The and boys soccer teams both claimed non-conference victories to highlight the weekend sports schedule.

Orioles Boys Soccer Wins on the Road

A 4-2 win at Park Center on Saturday boosted the Park boys soccer team to 7-2 on the season as the Orioles return to North Suburban Conference play this week against Fridley and Robbinsdale Cooper.

Gmoh Kanneh scored twice for Park, with Jorge Romero Suarez and Gideon Moranga also netting a goal apiece; goalkeeper Nick Gaitan-Gaitan made four saves in the win.

Red Knights Boys Soccer Stays Undefeated

A second consecutive shutout, this time a 6-0 blanking of host Minnetonka on Saturday, kept the No. 1-ranked BSM boys soccer team undefeated at 8-0-1 on the year as the Red Knights prepare to play conference rivals Totino-Grace and North Branch this week.

Dan Lundberg and Taras Tataryn both scored twice, with John Mulvahill and Luke McCormick each logging one goal. Goalie Kevin LeBahn made eight saves for his third shutout.

Red Knights Girls Soccer Posts Shutout

The BSM girls soccer team also notched its second-straight shutout, winning 7-0 at Duluth Marshall on Friday to push its record to 8-0-1 this autumn, with games at Totino-Grace and North Branch up next on the schedule.

Dana Buckhorn, Peggy Renier and Maria Michels all scored twice for the No. 1-ranked Red Knights, with Kelly Pannek adding a goal; BSM goalies Mikayla Coulombe and Annie Michels split the shutout, with each making two saves.

Orioles Cross-Country Competes in Showcase

The Park boys cross country team took 15th at the St. Olaf High School Showcase on Friday, led by Dominic Reed's 29th-place run of 17 minutes, 9 seconds over the five-kilometer course.

Grace William's run of 16:25 on the 4K course earned her 54th individually and paced the Orioles girls to a 25th-place team finish.

Red Knights Girls Cross-Country Takes Ninth

The BSM girls cross-country team took ninth at the Metro Invitational on Saturday, led by Nicole Sauer's 31st-place run of 16:20.8.

Results from a scheduled meet involving the Park girls swimming and diving team on Saturday were not made available.
