Sports Roundup: BSM Rolls in Boys Hoops Opener

The No. 1 team in Class 3A had no problem with Rosemount on Thursday.

BSM Boys Hoops Wins Big in Opener

The Red Knights had no problem with Rosemount in the season opener, winning 75-49 on the road.

BSM (No. 1 in Class 3A) was led by 21 points from Sanjay Lumpkin and 19 points from Isaiah Zierden. Will Dunn and Isaiah Gray also scored in double figures for the Red Knights, who built a 13-point lead by halftime and doubled it in the second half.

BSM next's game is Saturday at home against Eastview.

BSM Girls Hockey Wins Again

The Red Knights improved to 5-2 with a 5-1 win over Shakopee on home ice.

Sophomore Brittany Wheeler paced BSM with two goals and an assist. Kelly Pannek, Kaylee Druk and Liv Halvorson added a goal apiece, while sophomore Caitlin Reilly had three assists.

Up next for the Red Knights is a Saturday home game against Minnetonka.

BSM Boys Hockey Falls on the Road

The BSM boys hockey team suffered its first loss of the season, as Burnsville topped the Red Knights, 5-1.

BSM (No. 2 in Class 2A) scored first and led 1-0 after the first period, but Burnsville (No. 9 in Class 2A) bounced back with three goals in the second period and shut down the Red Knights from there.

Junior Dan Labosky scored the lone Red Knights goal, with assists coming from Grant Besse and Christian Horn.

BSM will host Duluth Marshall on Saturday in its next game.

BSM Girls Dance

The Red Knights took second in jazz at a conference meet that involved Chisago Lakes, Columbia Heights, Fridley, Irondale, North Branch, Robbinsdale Cooper, Saint Francis, Spring Lake Park and Totino-Grace.

BSM will next compete in the Eastview Invite on Saturday.

Results from a boys swimming meet involving BSM and St. Louis Park were not immediately available. Results from a Park gymnastics meet were also not available. The Orioles boys hockey team won 8-0 on Thursday— for a game story.
