Sports Round-up: Orioles, Red Knights Turn Calendars to September

St. Louis Park and Benilde-St. Margaret's claimed conference swim and dive victories on Thursday.

As and turned the calendar from August to September, the two schools' football teams got off to good starts, while BSM stayed hot in soccer.

BSM also won its football opener Thursday, topping host Robbinsdale Cooper, 48-34. Individual statistics were not available.

Up next for the Red Knights is their home opener on Friday, Sept. 9, versus Totino-Grace.

Red Knights Girls Soccer Still Perfect

The top-ranked BSM girls soccer team remained undefeated on the season with a 6-0 defeat of Robbinsdale Cooper on Thursday night.

Peggy Renier continues to lead the Red Knights with five goals and an equal number of assists, while Aly Hoffman is second on the squad with four goals and three assists.

The BSM goalkeeping trio of Mikayla Coulombe, Annie Michels and Maria Michels have yet to allow a regulation goal, with starter Coulombe a perfect 20-for-20 on saves in her four games played for the 3-0-1 Red Knights.

Red Knights Boys Soccer Notches Easy Win

The BSM boys soccer team also claimed a 6-0 defeat of Cooper on Thursday to improve to 3-0-1 on the year.

Individual statistics from the contest were not available. The Red Knights are off until next Thursday.

Orioles Boys Soccer Falls Again

A 3-0 loss to Waconia's Holy Family Catholic sent the Park boys soccer team out of the Orono Tournament without a win on Wednesday.

The Orioles dropped to 1-2 with the back-to-back tourney losses, which also included a 3-2 setback against the hosts on Tuesday. 

Orioles Girls Swimming and Diving Wins Dual Meet

The Park girls swimming and diving team won its North Suburban Conference dual meet against Cooper, topping the Hawks 88-74 on Thursday. Individual statistics were not available.

Red Knights Girls Swimming and Diving Comes Out on Top

The BSM girls swimming and diving team also won its NSC dual, topping Spring Lake Park by a score of 92-81 on Thursday. Individual statistics were not available.

Orioles Volleyball Still Winless

The Park volleyball team dropped to 0-3 on the year with back-to-back match losses at home against St. Paul Highland Park and Bloomington Kennedy.

Individual statistics were not available. The Orioles have lost all three of their matches this season by 3-0 scores.

Red Knights Volleyball Wins Close Match

A 3-2 defeat of Holy Angels at home gave the BSM volleyball team its first victory of the season and improved the Red Knights' record to 1-1 on the year. Individual statistics were not available.

Red Knights Girls Tennis Earns Split

The BSM girls tennis team split its mid-week matches, losing 4-3 to Hopkins on Wednesday before defeating Cooper 7-0 on Thursday. Individual statistics were not available.
