Sports Round-up: BSM Boys Lose First Conference Game

Irondale dropped the Red Knights to 11-1 in the North Suburban Conference. St. Louis Park also split with Cooper Friday.

Friday night saw the boys basketball team come up short in a conference game for the first time this season, while the boys and girls hoopsters split with Robbinsdale Cooper as the regular season inched one game closer to the playoffs.

Benilde-St. Margaret's Boys Basketball: Irondale 76, Red Knights 73

Irondale handed the Benilde-St. Margaret's boys basketball team its first loss in North Suburban Conference play in a 76-73 decision on the Red Knights' home court.

The result remained in doubt until the end before the visitors put the finishing touches on their three-point victory that dropped Benilde to 18-4 overall and 11-1 in the conference.

Isaiah Zierden led the Red Knights with 17 points, with Myles Barnes scoring 16 points and Sanjay Lumpkin tallying 14 points.

BSM hosts St. Francis at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

St. Louis Park Boys Basketball: Orioles 77, Robbinsdale Cooper 55

A 77-55 home win against Robbinsdale Cooper upped the St. Louis Park boys basketball team's record to 14-9 overall and 10-3 in the North Suburban.

The Orioles' Aaron Ziman tied for the game-high in scoring with 18 points, with four of his teammates also tallying double-figures on the scoresheet: Joseph Zangel (13 points), Marquealis Edwards (12), TJ Gist (11) and Kashif Hayes (10).

St. Louis Park travels to St. Francis next Friday at 7:15 p.m.

St. Louis Park Girls Basketball: Robbinsdale Cooper 65, Orioles 31

The St. Louis Park girls basketball team fell to 7-17 overall and 4-11 in the North Suburban with a 65-31 loss at Robbinsdale Cooper.

After scoring just nine points in the first half, the Orioles put up 22 points after the break in the loss, with Keanna Fox leading St. Louis Park with 12 points.

The Orioles host Edina at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Results were not currently available for the Benilde-St. Margaret's girls basketball game at Irondale.
