Orioles Boys Hockey Wins, Brodersen Reaches Milestone
Tyler Brodersen reached the 100 point mark for his career as St. Louis Park beat Spring Lake Park on Tuesday.
The boys hockey team defeated Spring Lake Park 4-1 in Blaine at Fogerty Arena on Tuesday to gain its 10th win of the season.
Eighth-grader Alec Baer recorded two goals—one on a rebound off of a Nick Gaitan-Gaitan shot and another on a pretty one-timer off of a nice pass from Tyler Brodersen. The first line of Baer, Brodersen and Gaitan-Gaitan accounted for three of the goals.
Brodersen notched three assists and reached the 100 point mark for his career in his third varsity season. The senior is in the top-10 statewide with 21 goals on the season. He was presented a commemorative puck on Wednesday after practice to mark the milestone.
Freshman Josh Passolt and senior blue-liner Sean Berens also scored for Park. Passolt is second on the team with 20 points.
Junior goalie Ryan Froom stopped 35 of 36 shots to gain the win and run the Orioles record to 10-4. They are 4-2 in the North Suburban Conference.
Park was outshot 36-27 for the game.
The Orioles take the show on the road this weekend. Friday night at 8 p.m. they play St. Paul Highland Park at Phalen Arena, and Saturday at 2 p.m. they play at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis.
