St. Louis Park fell behind early on and never got back into the game Friday.

The St. Louis Park boys basketball team saw its season end Friday night against powerhouse Hopkins in the Section 6AAAA semifinals at Osseo High School.

The Royals built a big halftime lead and never looked back in the 81-44 victory. Hopkins has been the top-ranked team in the state throughout the year and was a heavy favorite entering the section playoffs. Earlier this season, the Royals beat St. Louis Park 102-57.

Zach Stahl led Hopkins with 23 points, while Mr. Basketball candidate Joe Coleman chipped in 22. Kashif Hayes led the Orioles with 15 points.

Hopkins will take on Wayzata in the section finals on Tuesday.
