Minnetonka Ends St. Louis Park's Season

The Park amateur baseball team lost 15-4 to the Millers at the Class A state tournament on Wednesday.

The St. Louis Park amateur baseball team ended its season on Wednesday at the Class A state tournament in St. Paul.

Park lost to the Minnetonka Millers 15-4 at Dunning Field, six wins shy of claiming its third state championship.

The game, which was scheduled for and rained out on Tuesday, was moved to Wednesday as part of the loser’s bracket.

St. Louis Park opened up the tournament with a 6-1 win over the River Rats, then lost in the next round to Stockmen’s Irish, 5-4. 

After moving to the loser’s bracket, Park defeated the Bloomington Bandits 5-1 on Monday before running into a Millers squad that has scored 26 runs in its past two games.

Minnetonka will face the Minneapolis Lakers in the next round. The Lakers defeated the Millers 8-1 in the state championship bracket on Saturday. First pitch is set for 6:15 p.m. on Thursday at Dunning Field.

Park ends the season with a 32-11 record. This was the team’s 17th state tournament appearance since 1990, having placed third once, runner-up five times, and winning the Class A state title in 2002 and 2008.
