Minnesota Lynx Sign Former BSM Star

Kachine Alexander was drafted by her hometown team earlier this month in the WNBA draft.

Kachine Alexander, a Benilde-St. Margaret's standout who went on to star at the University of Iowa, signed with the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx today, according to a team press release.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Alexander was earlier this month in the third round of the WNBA draft following a stellar career at Iowa—where she was the first player in school history to record 1,000 career points, 800 career rebounds and 300 career assists—and at BSM, leading the Red Knights to a 2006 state title.

"I have wanted a chance to play in the WNBA since I started playing basketball as a kid," Alexander said in a statement after getting drafted on April 11. "I can't wait to get back home to Minneapolis."

The Lynx open training camp on May 15, with their first regular season game at Los Angeles on June 3. The team will make its home debut on June 5.
