Keseley Named New SLP Boys' Hockey Head Coach

Terry Keseley, a Park resident who has coached with the St. Louis Park Hockey Association for 15 years, will take over after the departure Shjon Podein.

A longtime St. Louis Park Hockey Association coach has been hired to serve as the new head coach of the SLP High School boys' varsity hockey team.

Terry Keseley, a Park resident who has coached with the SLPHA for 15 years, has been hired by St. Louis Park Public Schools to coach the Orioles next season. He'll replace former NHL star Shjon Podein, who submitted his resignation last month after two years in the position.

Keseley played hockey at the University of Minnesota Duluth back in the 1970s, according to SLP resident and Orioles play-by-play announcer John Froom.

Keseley's daughter, Angie—a 2005 SLP graduate—skated with the Wisconsin Badgers in college and nearly made the 2010 U.S. Olympic team. His son, Jon, graduated from SLP High School in 2003 and spent his college years on the ice with Gustavus.

According to an email from SLP Athletic Director Andy Ewald, he and Keseley are starting the process of assembling his new coaching staff.
