BSM's Lumpkin, Zierden Named Mr. Basketball Finalists

The two Red Knights both averaged more than 19 points per game this year.

Sanjay Lumpkin and Isaiah Zierden—both seniors on the basketball team—have been named finalists for the Minnesota Mr. Basketball award, ESPN1500 is reporting.

Lumpkin and Zierden join Siyani Chambers of Hopkins, Joey King of Eastview and Johnny Woodard of Duluth East as finalists.

Lumpkin averaged 19.5 points per game this season, while Zierden averaged 19.7. They have signed to play at Northwestern and Creighton next year, respectively.

The pair led BSM to a 25-2 record and a top seed in the section playoffs, but the Red Knights were in the section final.

The Minnesota Mr. Basketball Award has been given out since 1975, with past recipients including Kris Humphries, Kevin McHale and St. Louis Park's own Jim Petersen, who is Lumpkin's stepfather.
