Two divers will have a shot at a state championship on Saturday.
Senior Casey Nightingale and junior Rachel Thorstenson both placed in the top-20 during Thursday's opening round of the Class A diving championships, which was good enough to advance. Nightingale's score of 257.05 was the second best of the day; Thorstenson came in 15th with a score of 219.30.
Nightingale is in her third state tournament—she finished 18th last year. Thorstenson is making her first appearance.
The Class A swimming and diving championships begin at noon on Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
