BSM Dance Team Gets Back To The Top With State Jazz Title

After a one-year absence from the winners' circle, the Benilde-St. Margaret's girls are once again Class AA jazz dance state champions.

If this was the NFL or NBA, one could say got one for the thumb.

Four-time Minnesota state dance team champions in the jazz division, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s girls did it again Friday. The Knightettes, champions as recently as 2008 and 2009, danced their way back to the top at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

“I am extremely happy,” co-coach Kelly McGinnis said. “We are so proud of these girls. They worked so hard all season and they really gave all of their heart tonight.

“The routine’s been solid all year but what they really nailed was being together and dancing as a team."

Benilde-St. Margaret’s topped a field of 12 teams. Totino-Grace was second and defending state champion St. Cloud Cathedral third.
