BSM Boys Dropped by Waconia in Section Final
The Benilde-St. Margaret's boys basketball team's season came to an end with a 62-60 defeat to the Waconia Wildcats Thursday.
It was a case of too little too late for Benilde-St. Margaret's, as a ferocious comeback attempt by the top-seeded Red Knights fell two points short against Waconia in the Section 6AAA boys basketball championship game on Thursday night at Chanhassen High School.
The Wildcats advanced to the state tournament with the 62-60 victory.
After a first half marred with turnovers, foul trouble and missed baskets, Benilde-St. Margaret's found itself down 35-27 at the break.

The Red Knights slowly clawed their way back into the game before junior guard Isaiah Zierden drilled a shot to give BSM its first lead of the game at 56-55 with 4:11 left in the second half. But the lead didn't hold, as Waconia pulled away and then held on.
Zierden led the Red Knights in scoring on the night with 18 and Isaiah Gray added 14 points. Benilde-St. Margaret's finished the season 23-5.
