Nelson's Meat Market, Bakery and Deli Open Now in St. Louis Park

Nelson's has been a family-owned institution in Hopkins for 60 years. The meat market, bakery and deli is opened Friday in St. Louis Park.

Nelson's, a full-service butcher shop, bakery and catering service, opened Friday at 6318 Minnetonka Blvd.

Leonard Nelson, started Nelson’s Meat Market in May of 1963. When he died in 1979, Rick Nelson found himself as the owner at just 24 years old.

Nelson's does wild game processing, custom cut meat and hog roasts in addition to serving up sandwiches and fresh-cut beef, pork and poultry.

Check St. Louis Park Patch later in the week for a video inside the shop.

The move was necessitated by a reconstruction project on Shady Oak Road scheduled to begin in the spring that will remove essential parking along the road.
