Teacher Put On Leave Draws Wave of Online Support

Students have been rallying to see James Cave back at Benilde-St. Margaret's.

A wave of social media chatter has developed in support of a teacher who has been put on leave.

James Cave, a history teacher who was also an assistant coach on the girls varsity soccer team, was put on leave in mid-February. The details for why he was put on leave haven’t been made public.

Cave has retained a lawyer, Steve Katkov, who on Wednesday declined comment. School officials have also declined comment, citing a personnel matter.

On Twitter, the hashtag #SaveCave has taken off, as a number of students, soccer players and others in the BSM community have rallied for him to come back.

One tweet read: “Walking into history isn't the same...”

“He leaves an impact on everyone, stands behind anyone, leaves no one behind,” tweeted another.

A “SaveCave” Facebook page has inspired 378 likes, with many people posting favorite photos and stories of Cave.
