Tatalovich Joins Three Incumbents on School Board

Joe Tatalovich, along with Pam Rykken, Nancy Gores and Julie Sweitzer, won in Tuesday's St. Louis Park School Board election.

With polls closed and all local precincts reporting, St. Louis Park voters have re-elected three incumbents and added one newcomer to the school board.

The newcomer, , was the top vote-getter, according to unofficial results. He will be joined on the board by incumbents , and .

finished in fifth place and was not elected.

Here are the unofficial results, as reported by the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office:

  • Joe Tatalovich: 2,412 votes (22.02 percent of total)
  • Pam Rykken: 2,383 (21.76 percent)
  • Julie Sweitzer: 2,248 (20.53 percent)
  • Nancy Gores: 2,200 (20.09 percent)
  • Bill Levine: 1,658 (15.14 percent)

Tatalovich said he was "incredibly excited" by the news.

"I'm honored to have the support of this community," he said.

After failing to win election four years ago, Tatalovich said it was also very satisfying to make this kind of progress.

"It's nice to know I learned something from last time and built on that," he said.

Gores will be entering her third term on the board after already serving eight years, but said she was still nervous on Tuesday before the results came in.

"I never take the voters for granted," she said, adding that she is looking forward to working with the new board.

Rykken will be entering her second, four-year term.

"I'm very happy that voters gave me another chance to serve," she said.
