A St. Louis Park native is finding just how hard it can be running for student senate in college.
“In high school, it was just about who could put up the most posters. Student Senate campaigns are real and they’re hard-hitting and they’re a lot more work than I was used to, so, in that respect, it really challenged me,” Ben Verhasselt told The Times-Delphic, a Drake University student newspaper, for a recent article.
Verhasselt is a 2012 St. Louis Park High School grad. He was among the honored nominees for the 2011 homecoming court and competed in football, Nordic skiing and track.
He was recently elected as at-large senator for the 27th Session of Drake University Student Senate.
