Search Begins for new SLP High School Principal

With Robert Metz transitioning to his new role as superintendent, the School Board is looking for his replacement.

St. Louis Park Public Schools are on the hunt for a new high school principal, after current SLP High Principal Robert Metz was selected as the district's new superintendent this spring.

Metz will assume his new role on July 1, leaving the high school without its leading man for the coming school year. SLP Public Schools posted the opening and solicited applications through June 3, with applicants being screened for best fit.

A first round of interviews is currently slated for Wednesday, June 12, with finalists being selected no later than Friday, June 14. From there, candidates will undergo a second round of interviews with outgoing Superintendent Dr. Debra Bowers and Metz on June 18.

Finalists will then be invited to participate in a community forum that same night, from 6-7 p.m. in Room C350 of the high school. The public is encouraged to attend that forum, where candidates will be asked pre-determined questions and audience members will also be able to pose inquiries.

Audience members will also be invited to fill out feedback forms about the finalists, which will be shared with Bowers and Metz.

The School Board is then expected to announce SLP High School's newest principal—pending contract negotiations, of course—at its June 24 meeting.
