Fifth graders from St. Louis Park Spanish Immersion participated.

On Nov. 28, 42 fifth grade students from helped kick off the holiday season by singing at a Toys for Tots event in Hopkins.

The young singers, under the direction of music teacher Deborah Lamb, were at Cargill's offices to start the fundraising drive. Among their selections were a greeting song from West Africa, "Waka Waka," in honor of the 2010 World Cup, as well as traditional pieces like "Jingle Bells."

“The students were so excited and honored to be invited," Lamb said. "They took the responsibility very seriously and wanted to do an excellent job."
