Jack Jablonski Named BSM Hockey Team Captain

The famous BSM student will be one of the Red Knights' four captains next season.

Jack Jablonski, a Benilde-St. Margaret's student who was tragically injured last January during a hockey game, has been named a captain of the Red Knights varsity team for the coming season.

Acording to a recent post on Jack's CaringBridge page by his mother, Leslie, the announcement was made at the BSM hockey team's end-of-season banquet.

"So unexpected, but so thrilling for him," she wrote. "Brought tears to a lot of eyes at the end-of-season banquet. Jack was beaming. And rightfully so. Thanks Coach Pauly."

Jabs will serve as one of the team's four captains, alongside Spencer Naas, Johnny Austin and Ben Newhouse.

Happy Easter to All!

Apologies for not posting in a while. Everything is good.

As they say (who exactly is "they" when we say this?), "no news is good news." Nothing earth-shattering to report, but here's the skinny:

We're at the tail end of the boys' Spring Break. It was nice for Jack to get some extra rest over the last week. Happy to skip the 5:30 a.m. wake ups and ease into the day.

Jack still had therapy in the afternoons and his buddies came over in the eves. Lots of ping pong matches going on. Yes, Jack played too. Love that.

Mike and Max did a road trip to Chicago. They hung out with some of Mike's college buddies and their families. Nice for Max to get out of town for a few days and have lots of fun.

More good news. Max is off his crutches now. Hallelujah! He's doing PT at Tria a few times a week. He's hoping to be back on the ice before the summer. I'm not so anxious...

Wish I could report some miraculous movements on Jack's behalf, but things are status quo. And that's fine. Perhaps he gave up stellar moments for Lent and will knock our socks off in April.

However, the exciting news is this: Jack was named as one of the captains for BSM's Varsity hockey team next season. So unexpected, but so thrilling for him. Brought tears to a lot of eyes at the end-of-season banquet. Jack was beaming. And rightfully so. Thanks Coach Pauly.

Congrats to Spencer, Johnny and Ben, the other three captains. You guys rock.

I know I've said this before, but the hockey banquet was another "what a difference a year makes" moment. It was wonderful to see Jack looking so much stronger than he did last March when every moment was a tender one. We never knew if he would make it to the State hockey games (he made two, missed one) or if he'd be able to sit through the banquet (he did, but just barely). He was in the midst of fighting UTI's and living without that nasty halo. Great to get it off, but a big adjustment, none-the-less.

So yes, he's come a long way. Can't wait to see where he's at next year at the hockey banquet...

xoxo
