Dayton said Wednesday's events brought back memories of a similar accident that claimed the life of one of his closest friends, when a rock slide came tumbling down on the friend as he was hiking in California. The Governor said he struggled to come to terms with why such "a terrible thing happened to a terrific person."

"This is a hard thing for anybody to go through," Dayton said. "It really takes a lot of courage, a lot of bravery to […] live through it. If you feel like crying, you can cry. And if you feel sad, feel said. And if you remember happily the good times you spent with your friends, remember that, too."
