St. Louis Park has once again been named one of the "100 Best Communities for Young People" in the country.
America's Promise Alliance has been announcing its 100 best for six years, and St. Louis Park is now the only community in Minnesota to receive the designation each year.
“Being named one of America’s Promise Alliance’s 100 Best is significant and meaningful to the entire community,” said Karen Atkinson, director of Children First, in a press release. “So many dedicated people and programs contributed to this win and it further reinforces our belief that a focus on youth pays dividends to the entire community.”
More than 300 applications from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico were received this year. America's Promise Alliance then looked at how the applicants delivered on the "Five Promises"—areas identified by the alliance as being critical to the development of children. Those areas are: caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, effective education and opportunities to help others.
St. Louis Park scored well because of the at the , the Central Clinic partnership between and the St. Louis Park School District, and the Children First initiative.
