Upper School visual arts teacher Bill Colburn is part of Intermedia Arts' 554CHANGE show.

Thursday, a large painting by a Blake School teacher went on exhibition at innovative South Minneapolis gallery Intermedia Arts, alongside work by other Twin Cities artists.

Visual arts teacher Bill Colburn is part of the 554CHANGE show, and will be on display through August 10. The show is billed as a "multidisciplinary exhibition" showcasing work by artists "who are working as catalysts for community change."

According to a statement provided by Intermedia Arts, Colburn said his aim as an art teacher is to ensure "(m)y students understand that art goes beyond the studio and into the community." Colburn's own community work has included contributing to homelessness fundraiser Art4Shelter, and working at Vail Place.
