(VIDEO) Council Going Digital

Some members are making the switch to iPads for their agendas.

Like many of us, St. Louis Park City Council members are finding ways to integrate technology into their lives.

Council, meet the iPad.

Last week, at a council study session, council members had the opportunity to experiment and get familiar with the Apple tablets. By using them as PDF readers, council members can nix the need for their large, weekly paper agenda packets. The city hasn't calculated an exact cost savings for this, but staff figures their will be significant savings due to less printing.

On Monday, council members Anne Mavity, Steve Hallfin and Sue Santa used—for the first time—city provided iPads during a council meeting. Councilman Jake Spano used his own, personal iPad. Other council members can switch over as they are comfortable, while paper agendas will continue to be available to them in the meantime.
