The Ellison Report: Shifting Focus to Jobs

Rep. Keith Ellison called for a renewed push for jobs during a Tuesday TV appearance.

Rep. Keith Ellison continued a flurry of appearances on television and radio with an interview Tuesday on , where he pivoted from the debt-ceiling debate to a push for jobs: 

  • "What we need to do is focus on jobs. The more people working, the more taxpayers. And that is effective deficit reduction ... Now this thing is behind us and we can focus on putting America back to work."

Ellison is now as much as ever before "out there" on the national political scene, drawing praise from liberal bloggers and derision at conservative blogs.

At CounterPunch, Vijay Prashad called for more from Ellison as co-leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus:

  • "Come the day when progressives in the Party such as ... Keith Ellison ... consider how best to fight against the lunatic Right and the neo-liberal Right, to articulate a clear path to a progressive future that is not hampered by the Democratic Party's progressive mirage."
