St. Louis Park Recognizes Junior Naturalists

The youngsters volunteer at the Westwood Hills Nature Center.

On Monday night, the St. Louis Park City Council recognized a group of 56 youngsters who have collectively chipped in more than 1,200 volunteer hours this summer.

Members of St. Louis Park's Junior Naturalist program all received plaques and handshakes from the mayor during the council meeting. The 21-year-old program pairs local kids in grades 7-12 with volunteer opportunities at the .

"We've been really, really lucky to have such a great group of kids," said Carrie Haslerud, who is a program manager.
